TMS Treatment for OCD

When paired with medications and therapy, TMS for OCD can be a powerful intervention.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) impacts 1 in 40 adults in the United States.1

Without treatment, OCD can feel overwhelming and unrelenting. Symptoms rarely disappear on their own and can persist across the lifespan, leaving many people feeling trapped in their own thoughts. Research shows that only about 20% of individuals with untreated OCD experienced remission even after 40 years—underscoring the importance of effective treatment to bring lasting relief and recovery. If you’re struggling with OCD, reach out today to explore treatment options and take the first step toward reclaiming your life.

What is OCD?

OCD is a mental health condition characterized by a cycle of unwanted, intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions). People with OCD often feel powerless to stop these thoughts and actions, even if they recognize that they are excessive or irrational.

Obsessions

Obsessions are persistent, unwelcome thoughts, urges, or images that cause intense anxiety, disgust, or unease in patients suffering from OCD. Some common obsessions include:

  • Fear of contamination: Worrying about germs, dirt, or fluids
  • Safety and harm: Recurring fears of harming yourself or other people
  • Symmetry and order: A need for things to be arranged in a very specific way
  • Unwanted thoughts: Disturbing thoughts that conflict with your values

Compulsions

Compulsions are the repetitive behaviors or mental acts performed to reduce the anxiety caused by an obsession. While they may offer temporary relief, they ultimately reinforce the obsessive cycle. Common compulsions include:

  • Washing and cleaning: Excessive cleaning to eliminate perceived contamination
  • Checking: Repeatedly checking that nothing bad has happened
  • Repeating: Saying words or phrases, or doing actions a certain number of times
  • Ordering and arranging: Meticulously arranging objects in a precise way
TMS for OCD

TMS works alongside medications to take treatment further when relief has only gone so far. You don’t have to settle for where you are today—TMS can help you move forward. Using gentle, rhythmic tapping on the scalp, TMS acts like physical therapy for your brain—gently waking up the areas involved in OCD to restore balance and bring lasting relief.

Over half (52.4%) of participants in a published study saw a sustained symptom reduction for at least one month following treatment.2
